The City of Northlake provides a variety of services for its residents. From drinking water to dog tags, streetlights to street sweeping, services make Northlake work. There are 90 full-time employees of the City of Northlake, including members of the police force. Building department : The primary purpose of the Northlake Building Department is to ensure that safe construction practices are maintained on all residential, rental and commercial construction. This is done through the inspection of all structures to make sure that they meet the local and state building, electrical, plumbing and mechanical codes. Permit information : To expedite approval of your building permit, an application must be completed and submitted to the Building Department. Most applications require one copy of your plat of survey. On all structural alterations, plans must bear the seal and signature of a licensed architect in the State of Illinois and a statement that the plans comply with all Building Ordinances of the City of Northlake. Permits must be posted on site and visible from the street. All contractors must be licensed and bonded to work in the City of Northlake. Inspection requests must be received by the Building Department 24 hours before the requested date. It is the responsibility of the contractor to notify J.U.L.I.E.
