Millennium Park PDF Print E-mail

Millennium Park is a new facility located near the intersection of LaPorte and Bernice. The former Baptist Church building has been rehabbed and is now called the Sandy Vasquez Community Center. The Center is available for rental for occasions such as Birthday parties, Baptisms, Graduations, etc. Contact Northlake City Hall at (708) 343-8700 for availability and rental fees. There is no alcohol permitted. The newly constructed park includes playground equipment, a volleyball court, a splash fountain, and a beginners skate park.

Day Camp and Sports Camp
Please register your child camps are filling up. This year we are having Day Camp at Bulger Park, Trumbull Park, and the Grant Park Recreation Center. Sports Camp will only be available Grant Park Recreation Center.
Day Camp offers your child a variety or games and crafts along with the opportunity to go on fun field trips and swim on swim days.
Sports Camp (ages 9-12), offers your child the opportunity to learn and play sports through out the summer. Each week children play a new sport. (Sports Camper will also go on field trips and swim on swim days).
To register you must fill out a parent’s packet, which can be picked up at either the Grant Park Recreation Center at 44 W. Golfview Drive in Northlake or George A. Leoni Community Complex at 800 N. 17th Ave, Melrose Park. New this year, our parents packet can be downloaded online.
Optional swim lessons are available upon request.

Important Information:
A Birth Certificate must be turned in with your registration.
You do not have to sign your child up for both sessions of day camp or sports camp to be eligible for swim lessons
Parent must pack a lunch for their children each day of camp, please pack a snack also for children attending aftercare and extended care.
Sorry, there will be no camp at Gouin due to lack of space.

Tot Camps
Our Tot Camps are designed for children ages 3-5. Tot Camps are half a day themed camps that provide children with an opportunity to express their creativity and meet new friends.Tot Camp themes change weekly and are held at the Bulger Park Preschool Room.

 

 

Demographics :

The City of Northlake operates under the mayoral form of government. The Mayor administers the day-to-day operations of the City. The legislative authority of the City is vested in an eight-member council, consisting of two aldermen from each of the four wards. The Mayor serves a four-year term and the aldermen serve staggered four-year terms.
The City of Northlake provides a full range of municipal services, including public safety (police), public works, streets and sanitation. The City owns and operates its own water system supplied by Lake Michigan water purchased through Melrose Park and the City of Chicago. Natural gas is supplied by Nicor and electricity is provided by Commonwealth Edison

As of the census of 2000, there were 11,878 people, 3,873 households, and 2,753 families residing in the city. The population density was 3,939.3 people per square mile (1,518.6/km²). There were 4,008 housing units at an average density of 1,329.2/sq mi (512.4/km²). The racial makeup of the city was 75.47% White, 2.40% African American, 0.50% Native American, 3.67% Asian, 0.05% Pacific Islander, 15.36% from other races, and 2.55% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 34.80% of the population.

There were 3,873 households out of which 34.2% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 53.9% were married couples living together, 11.4% had a female householder with no husband present, and 28.9% were non-families. 24.7% of all households were made up of individuals and 12.0% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.95 and the average family size was 3.56.

In the city the population was spread out with 25.4% under the age of 18, 9.9% from 18 to 24, 29.4% from 25 to 44, 19.9% from 45 to 64, and 15.4% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 36 years. For every 100 females there were 96.0 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 92.8 males.
The median income for a household in the city was $48,406, and the median income for a family was $53,090. Males had a median income of $33,931 versus $26,313 for females. The per capita income for the city was $18,119. About 6.2% of families and 8.4% of the population were below the poverty line, including 11.3% of those under age 18 and 8.5% of those age 65 or over
