Carden Park Carden Park is a five acre park adjacent to the 18-acre Prairieland Elementary School site. It is just north of the Town's #3 Fire Station on East Raab Road at Henry Street. The school/neighborhood park includes playground equipment, a backstop for baseball or softball, two soccer fields, an accessible picnic shelter and an asphalt walking or jogging path around the entire perimeter of the site. This path now connects with Constitution Trail on Raab Road all the way to Linden Street. A parking lot is available at this site. Public restrooms for park users are located at the north entrance of the fire station. Located just north of Station #3 is the Town’s newly constructed Safety Town and adjacent shelter. This 125 acre park located between Parkside Junior High School and Normal West High provides the community an opportunity for an abundance of recreational opportunities. Facilities and equipment that are accessible from the parking lots include the Champion Fields softball complex, 6 lighted tennis courts, playground equipment for all ages, a large picnic shelter and restrooms, and dedicated in the spring of 2005, a completely fenced-in Dog Park. Other facilities include an 18-hole Frisbee Golf Course, a 12 pit lighted horseshoe court, three small picnic shelters, a hard surfaced basketball court and a large natural area in the rear of the park with hiking trails. The Town of Normal Dog Park at Maxwell Park is provided to the public as a leash-free facility to exercise and promote interaction between animals and owners. It is not intended as a training facility, nor will professional training be allowed. By using this facility, dog owners agree to the following rules for the facility. The dog owner agrees to assume the full risk of any injuries, damages or loss associated with their use of the Dog Park. A handler age 16 or older must be present at all times and is solely responsible for the actions of their dog(s). Handlers are limited to three dogs per visit.
Children must be at least 6 years of age and accompanied by a parent or guardian to enter the park. It is the responsibility of the parent or guardian to supervise their children at all times to prevent accidents. Dogs must be leashed while entering and exiting the park. Handler must have a leash in their possession at all times. Dog owners must remain with their dogs in the exercise area and must keep their dog in sight at all times. Always open and close the dog park gates carefully. Call your dog away from the gate while other dogs are entering or leaving. Dogs showing aggression towards people or other dogs must be immediately leashed and removed from the dog park. Excessive barking is strongly discouraged. Dogs must be must have current vaccinations and wear up-to-date County rabies vaccination tags at all times. Owner information tags are also highly recommended. Dogs in heat are not allowed in the dog park. Puppies using the park must be older than six months.
Owners must clean up and dispose of feces left by their dog. Plastic baggies and garbage cans are available on the premises. Failing to clean up after animals or will result in loss of privileges to use the park.
