We are proud of the community in which we live and work. Our job is to deliver the most efficient, courteous, and effective government services in a fiscally prudent manner. This helps each department to provide the best service to all of our residents and businesses. The City Administrator of the City of Morrison is appointed for an indefinite term by the Mayor with the advice and consent of the City Council. The Administrator is the primary non-elected administrative officer of the City of Morrison. The City Administrator is responsible for the day-to-day management of the City of Morrison and receives broad direction and policy from the Mayor and City Council. The City Administrator develops and implements management programs designed to enhance workforce productivity, improve service delivery, and maximize efficiencies. The Administrator provides strong management support for all departments and continually keeps the Mayor and City Council informed of critical information. Fire department The Morrison Fire Department was founded in 1876 and was originally called The Jackson Hose Company. They started with 10 volunteers and horse drawn equipment. Today, there are 30 volunteers and a station full of state-of-the-art equipment. The Morrison Fire Department serves and protects the city limits of Morrison and a rural area of about 160 square miles. Morrison’s Fire Department is different than most. They are not a tax district with a board of directors, they are a 30-person non-profit corporation, which survives by collecting our operating expenses by directly billing our rural subscribers and our contracted operating expenses from the City of Morrison, which are collected through the City’s taxing system. Rural bills can be mailed to the Fire Department or paid at Yarbrough Appliance, 227 West Main Street, Morrison.
