Geography Arlington Heights is located at 42°5′42″N, 87°58′51″W (42.094976, -87.980873)[1]. According to the United States Census Bureau, the village has a total area of 16.4 square miles (42.6 km²), of which, 16.4 square miles (42.5 km²) of it is land and 0.04 square miles (0.1 km²) of it (0.18%) is water. Demographics As of the census[2] of 2000, there were 76,031 people, 50,763 households, and 20,518 families residing in the village. The population density was 7,633.3 people per square mile (1,788.9/km²). There were 131,725 housing units at an average density of 11,933.3/sq mi (746.4/km²). The racial makeup of the village was 90.56% White, 0.96% African American, 0.08% Native American, 5.98% Asian, 0.04% Pacific Islander, 1.19% from other races, and 1.19% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 4.46% of the population. There were 30,763 households out of which 29.2% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 58.4% were married couples living together, 6.3% had a female householder with no husband present, and 33.3% were non-families. 29.0% of all households were made up of individuals and 11.5% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.44 and the average family size was 3.05. In the village the population was spread out with 23.1% under the age of 18, 6.0% from 18 to 24, 29.8% from 25 to 44, 25.0% from 45 to 64, and 16.1% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 40 years. For every 100 females there were 92.6 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 89.2 males. According to a 2006 estimate, the median income for a household in the village was $71,366, and the median income for a family was $88,371.[3] Males had a median income of $59,162 versus $39,555 for females. The per capita income for the village was $33,544. About 1.6% of families and 2.5% of the population were below the poverty line, including 2.0% of those under age 18 and 3.0% of those age 65 or over.
