College of Commerce Offering highly respected, practical, flexible programs of business study, DePaul's College of Commerce encompasses the university's undergraduate business program and the Kellstadt Graduate School of Business, whose part-time MBA program was ranked ninth in the nation by U.S.News & World Report in its "America's Best Graduate Schools 2008" guidebook. The College of Commerce began offering classes in 1913. It was one of the first 10 business colleges in the United States, as well as the first business school in downtown Chicago and the first business school at an American Catholic university.
College of Communication Established in 2007, the College of Communication is home to more than 1,100 students pursuing professional or traditional academic courses of study in journalism; public relations and advertising; media studies; radio, television and film; relational, group and organizational communication; and culture and communication. Coursework in the college's graduate and undergraduate degree programs is supplemented by a range of comprehensive pre-employment training opportunities, including Radio DePaul, The DePaulia, and a top-rated internship program.
College of Liberal Arts and Sciences The College of Liberal Arts and Sciences (LA&S) is the oldest and largest college at DePaul, with 431 full-time faculty in more than 32 undergraduate and 26 graduate degree programs. Courses are offered in the day, evenings and on weekends, primarily on the Lincoln Park Campus. The College of LA&S includes several key academic centers, including the Humanities Center, Center for Latino Research, Center for Black Diaspora and the Center for Community Research.
School of Public Service The School of Public Service, the largest graduate program in LA&S, was established in 1970 and became its own school in the summer of 2007. Faculty members teach leaders of nonprofit and government organizations critical thinking and policy analysis as well as practical management skills valued in the public and nonprofit sectors. College of Law DePaul's College of Law has been a unique institution since its founding in 1912. It was one of the first law schools in Illinois to admit Jewish and women students and was among the first law schools to introduce such educational innovations as the study of negotiation techniques, courses in international criminal law and pre-trial courses in skills techniques. And in its 2007 rankings of graduate programs in America, U.S.News & World Report ranked the College of Law's health law and intellectual property programs among the best in the country.
School for New Learning Our School for New Learning (SNL) was created in 1972 to serve the learning needs of adult students. It is one of the first university-wide efforts in the United States that caters to older students through a separate college. SNL's innovative approach to teaching the adult student, which gives students credit toward degrees for life experience, has earned it international acclaim as a leader in the field of education for adults.
