The Department of Veterinary Biosciences
- provides quality instruction in the basic sciences of gross, microscopic, and developmental anatomy, neurobiology, physiology, pharmacology and toxicology
- • conducts original, state-of-the-art research on critical problems of animal, human, and ecosystem health; and
- • provides clinical services in the areas of pharmacology, toxicology, and environmental/ecosystem health to practicing veterinarians, animal owners, and both governmental and non-governmental agencies.
Veterinary Clinical Medicine
Through its seven academic sections, The Department of Veterinary Clinical Medicine conducts discovery, instruction and service relevant to- • companion animals;
- • horses;
- • food and fiber animals;
- • exotic, wildlife and zoological species.
We are dedicated not only to animal health and welfare, but to improvement of human and environmental wellbeing through
- • improved understanding of the human-animal bond,
- • food production systems and
- • ecosystem health.
Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory
The Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory (VDL) provides diagnostic medical testing to assist veterinarians and public officials in identifying and controlling disease conditions affecting animals, animals industries, and public health. The laboratory also provides collaborative research support on Campus and assists training of veterinary and graduate students.VDL tests for infectious agents, toxins and other causes of disease in animal diagnostic samples submitted by i) veterinary practitioners serving animal owners, ii) public officials associated with public health, law, or wildlife management, and iii) scientists with collaborative research projects.
